ABOUT US

Support Innovations for Peace and Education (SIPE) is a Non-Governmental Organization founded and registered in the year 2012 in the Republic of Kenya under the PBORA ( the then NGO Coordination Board). SIPE was founded after the experience of the post election violence experienced in the year 2007 that nearly brought our country Kenya to the hell of destruction. Every moment serves as a lesson in our lives. It is against this backdrop that SIPE was found. SIPE has two arms. The arm of Peace and the other one is Education. These two are intrinsically interwoven and they can’t be divorced. Through our arm of peace, we train, create awareness and preach peaceful coexistence, teach and nurture peace, we admonish tribalism because like a rain bow, no one can exist without the other. Let’s pose for some time and ask ourselves, If this world was left to me alone? We all live under the same sky remember. Through this arm, we train and nurture transformative leadership which teaches us to be leaders rather than followers We should all lead from the front. All these we achieve through CIPEs model; Community Based Institutes for Peace Education. The other arm is Education. This is character-based Education. We do resource mobilization and fundraising for the education of the most vulnerable and orphans in society while recognizing that these children have the most outstanding gift of education. We also embrace education for human values and we carry out educational programmes that are character and value based. Our core values are Trust, non violence, right action, peace and Love and these are what we teach and ascribe to.

Our main Programs are Education sponsorship and enhancement, Peace and environmental conservation, Entrepreneurship and Leadership Mentorship and Community Empowerment Initiatives. Some of the key projects initiated under these programs are: Arms That Embrace Education sponsorship Project, Uwezo Accelerated and Tech Hub- An entrepreneurship and leadership mentorship incubator project, Circular Economy Project, Women and Youths Cottage industry project and Sanitary Pads Girls Project.

We value children, women and youths from vulnerable backgrounds and they are the reason for our existence. When these three people smile, we smile too. Is the child well? Is everything well? If the child is well, then everything is well.

OUR PROGRESS AT A GLANCE

  1. Arms to Embrace Education Project:
  2. Secondary/Senior schools: This is a project that supports orphans, vulnerable and neglected children in the counties of Kakamega, Busia and Siaya with all the school requirements in day secondary schools. These are bright boys and girls who qualified to join boarding secondary schools but could not make it due to their poor family backgrounds. We sponsor at least 100 students from Form one to Form Four every year in a number of day secondary schools with school fees, stationery materials, sanitary materials, lunch and mentorship. Every year, we keep at least 120 boys and girls in secondary schools.
  3. University Project (UP)

Every year we ensure that every beneficiary who succeeds to join university and tertiary colleges meets his or her campus upkeep requirements in terms of accommodation, meals, transport and stationery costs. This is a project at its initial stages and it therefore needs your full support because initially our main focus has been only on secondary education but we realized the need of coming in to help these students as much as they apply for Higher Education Loan Board financing. Due to the huge gaps in the higher education financing model, there is need to save these students from dropping out of the universities and colleges hence the launching of the University project.

  1. Entrepreneurship and Leadership Mentorship Program

Through our subsidiary and sister incubator, Uwezo Accelerated and Tech Hub, we have mentored and incubated 125 young entrepreneurs. Each year, we mentor atleast 30 young entrepreneurs and leaders. Uwezo Accelerated and Tech Hub is an award winning idea and it belongs to the Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Foundation Ecosystem having won their award and therefore admitted in the year 2016.

  1. Circular Economy Pilot Project

In the year 2023, our Executive Director who is a Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Foundation entrepreneur and mentor was nominated by SEED through The Circular economy Catalyst to undergo training and mentorship as a global Circular Economy Advisor and with this training and mentorship, he came back with the skills and managed to mentor 30 community members in Circular economy. We purpose to mentor and train 100 circular economy entrepreneurs by the year 2027 if funds will allow, then distribute them in the Western and Nyanza counties of Kenya. We purpose to make this a revolution in the neglected robust sector of Circular Economy.

  1. Community Empowerment Projects

In the year 2025, we managed to initiate The Great women and Youth Cottage manufacturing project where Adolescent and young mothers were trained in making bar soaps, liquid detergent and powder soaps coupled with entrepreneurship skills at village level and the project of 10 women has seen many distribute their products to nearby institutions and shopping centres. This has improved their income levels and they are now ready to train other vulnerable women in these simple manufacturing skills. We aim to train atleast 300 women and youths in the cottage industry by the year 2028.

  1. Sanitary Pads Program

In the spirit of keeping the girl child in school for better performance and alleviation of monthly menstrual periods stigma and shame, we have identified vulnerable girls and therefore enrolled them in this project that provides them with enough sanitary pads, other hygiene materials and SRHR workshops that enhance positive living and sound sexual health and well-being. We have more than 50 girls and young mothers in this project.
